Michelle Steel for Congress Posts Over $520,000 Raised in 2019 4th FEC Quarter

Michelle Steel Enters 2020 with Over $1.3 Million Cash-on-Hand

Huntington Beach, CA – Today, Michelle Steel, Chairwoman of the Orange County Board of Supervisors, announced she raised over $520,000 in the final FEC quarter of 2019. With over $1.3 million cash on hand to start 2020, Steel’s fundraising prowess continues to reinforce that she is one of the strongest Republican challenger candidates in the country. Her campaign continues to be highlighted as one of the most likely pick-up opportunities for House Republicans.

Steel’s haul in the final three months of 2019 is one of the most competitive in the country. Her strong personal story, top political team, and proven fundraising chops have allowed Steel to also earn the endorsement of every major Republican political player at the national and local levels, including the California Republican Party, Leader Kevin McCarthy, and Whip Steve Scalise.

In August 2019, the National Republican Congressional Committee named Michelle Steel as an “On the Radar” candidate and RealClearPolitics reported that an independently commissioned poll conducted by TargetPoint Consulting had Steel and incumbent Harley Rouda tied 42%-42%.

“Michelle spent 2019 outworking Harley Rouda in every way, whether in fundraising or community organizing. Her reputation as a top candidate in the nation is well-deserved and she starts 2020 with the momentum needed to win back this seat. As Harley Rouda spends time aligning himself with an increasingly out-of-touch socialist wing of the Democrat party, Michelle Steel is actively working her district, meeting with voters, and building out the infrastructure to flip this seat,” stated Sam Oh, campaign general consultant.

Steel represents the county’s 2nd supervisorial district which overlaps 66% of California’s 48th congressional district which encompasses all or portions of Aliso Viejo, Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach, Laguna Niguel, Newport Beach, Santa Ana, Seal Beach, and Westminster.
