Steel calls for halt to $0 bail

Huntington Beach, CA – Michelle Steel, congressional candidate for CA-48 and Chairwoman of the Orange County Board of Supervisors, today called on the state to stop $0 bail following reports that child abusers are eligible for release under the program.

“I am sympathetic that officers and those incarcerated must be protected from COVID-19, but under no circumstances should violent child abusers be allowed onto our streets,” Steel said. “As elected officials, public safety is our top priority, and this mandate is simply not safe for Orange County families – the state should immediately end this dangerous rule.”

Steel’s comments are in line with the recent concerns raised by Orange County’s Sheriff and District Attorney.
